Students, boats OK despite flooding

We’re glad to report that, despite widespread flooding in the Susquehanna River Valley, all of our rowers are safe and there is no damage to boats or equipment. Many members of the varsity team were forced to evacuate their dorms and downtown housing on Thursday, but were allowed to return when the river crested earlier than usual at 26 feet instead of the forecast 30 feet.

The boats and other equipment have been moved safely to high ground near the boathouse. In the meantime the team is training on the ergs and in the varsity weight room. As central Pennsylvania deals with the aftermath of the flood, we wish the Bucknell community a speedy recovery and hope the team can get back on the water soon.
